Easter Egg Hunt #2

IMG_3557_touch upWaiting for the hunt to start.

We went to an Easter Egg Hunt in West Bountiful this morning. Kyle had the genius idea to jog the 2.5 miles there. I can not even jog one mile. Some how he talked me into it. We loaded Hailey into the stroller and walk/jogged out to West Bountiful. I told Kyle if we were late and Hailey missed the hunt I would be super upset. Kyle reassured me that if we were running late he would take the camera and sprint ahead with Hailey. Off we went. I survived and we actually got there with about 10 minutes to spare. And yes, I did enjoy it. At times I thought I might die, but I did it. We jogged to a stop light and then walked to the next. There’s no way I would have made it running the whole way. Maybe another day, when I’ve worked up to it a little more.

So, the hunt only lasted about 30 seconds. No joke. The field was divided into age groups, which was nice, but the roped off area was not nearly as big as I think it should have been. And parents helped out too much- just let the kids do it and have fun! Hailey only picked up one egg. By the time she got it in her bag all of the eggs were gone. Oh well. Ellie picked up three and was nice and shared one with Hailey so they each went home with two eggs. Hailey didn’t care how many eggs she found. I think she was also a little overwhelmed by all of the people and the chaos anyway.

So, the actual hunt wasn’t as great for Hailey as I had hoped it would be. Or maybe it was, and it wasn’t as great for me as I hoped it would be. That’s probably more true. But, I did really enjoy the time spent with Kyle. We were both tired and already feeling sore, so we just walked back home. When we spent a summer in Texas we went on so many walks in the evening. Sometimes I miss those days. I feel like it’s one of the few times when it’s just the two of us and we can really talk without any distractions. Overall, it was a great morning!

  1. I love taking walks too because he is much less likely to get distracted. I can only imagine what it's like with a little one around too. If it makes you feel better my husband has an iPhone, so I rarely get his undivided attention. Walks are great for that and I'm glad you guys were able to enjoy that time together.
