I know I’ve been lacking in posting recently. Really, I just haven’t had the motivation or desire to do so. I’ve spent many afternoons napping while Hailey naps, and others I’ve spent at my sewing machine, in preparation for baby girl’s arrival (which by the way, I am now 39 1/2 weeks along. Comon’ baby!) The rest of the time- I just haven’t felt like it.
For Hailey’s birthday I really wanted to do something fun. I saw a deal on KSL for discounted tickets to the Treehouse Children’s Museum in Ogden. I snatched two of those up and invited Hailey’s friend Ellie and her mom, Brianna, to join us (which was so nice of Brianna to do so, since it was her own birthday as well!) We played at the children’s museum for a while- until Hailey had her first (and only) pee accident in a public place, which was awesome. Despite that, she had a blast! She absolutely loved it. And so did I. Seriously, we’re going back someday.
For dinner Hailey requested pasta, so I made homemade Mac and Cheese. Then she opened presents.
Hailey is now at the age where presents are super fun, because she gets really into it and way excited about it. I love her reaction to the skirt my mom made for her, in the top right picture. In the bottom right picture everything she has is new, except for the gray pants and the tag reader (the book is new). I just love how excited she was to put everything on and try it all out at the same time.
After presents we had ice cream and then it was time for bed.
Two days later was the big anticipated day for Hailey: the birthday party! I thought it would be so fun to put together a party for Hailey with her friends this year. She was so excited. Like overly excited. It’s all she talked about for days. The night before the party, she woke up at 11:00 pm, got dressed and went into her playroom to play, like she usually does in the mornings. She was so excited for her party day that she didn’t realize it was still dark outside. Poor girl had to put her pajamas back on and go back to bed.
Party time finally came. We had 6 silly girls running around our house screaming for an hour and a half. It was a bit chaotic, but it was also so fun. Especially for Hailey. I kept it simple- we played a few games: duck, duck, goose and pin the tail on the zebra (yes, zebra- not donkey. I don’t know, it’s just what I found at Walmart.) The girls laced necklaces with Gummy Life Savers, Fruit Loops, and Cheerios. Then we did mini cupcakes (which were the perfect size for little girls) and the little ice cream cups that come with the wooden spoons. Hailey was sung to, and she had a small number 3 candle on her cupcake. She was very concerned about the candle ahead of time. She mentioned it multiple times to me that she wanted a number 3 on her cupcake.
Then it was present time. I was so busy trying to keep the girls occupied and under control during the party that I completely spaced picture taking. Until the presents. But then the girls were all so excited to see what Hailey was opening, that they all crowded around her and I couldn’t get a picture anyway. It was funny.
I think Hailey had a good third birthday.
Happy Birthday Hailey! You are a brave pregnant woman to put on a party, but it sounds like it was a raving success. :) Can't wait to see the announcement for baby girl #2. Best Wishes!!!
