Well, It Happened

I knew this day would come someday. I think it happens for everyone, at some point.

Hailey got into my make up.

It was a no nap afternoon for Hailey (unfortunately we’ve had a few of those recently.) I left Hailey in the family room on the couch reading books. I went to the basement to work on the sewing I was planning on doing that afternoon. Of course I got caught up in my work and eventually realized how quiet it was. I called out for Hailey and didn’t get a response. In the past with Hailey when it’s quiet, it’s because she’s in her room reading. I didn’t think too much of it, until I went upstairs and peeked in her room to see it empty. I made my way into my bedroom and then into the bathroom. Our shower doors (which I very much dislike) have a mirror on one side. Hailey was looking into the mirror and applying make up. She immediately spun around when she heard me enter the room and said “I’m a monster!”

Yes, I can see that…

And then she did a monster dance.

Hailey didn’t get in enough trouble, because I couldn’t hold in my laughter. Honestly, do you think you could have kept it together? Anyway, I quickly ran to the basement, grabbed my camera and took some pictures. This was definitely one to document.

And then Hailey wanted to paint her fingernails. And for some reason I obliged. Why not? So we painted her fingernails pink and her toenails green. 

For the record, that mascara would NOT come off. It’s waterproof and she had it on there so thick. I eventually had to bust out the Vaseline and got most of it off. She was still wearing a little mascara the next day. She decided to get into my make up again the next day as well, while I was preoccupied on the phone with my dear friend Jennifer. This time I did not think it was as funny. I guess I need to keep my bedroom door closed.

I’m considering charging for Hailey’s make up services. Any takers? She does a great job…
