Hailey's Friend Dideh

Hailey has a pretty fantastic imagination. I don't know if her imagination seems so fantastic to be me because I am a boring adult with next to no imagination left in me, or if it is because she is just that creative. Either way, she is pretty entertaining.

For the past year (plus) she has brought along her imaginary friend Dideh. I really don't know how to spell his name. I'd ask, but I'd probably end up with something like KEMB4. So, I'm spelling his name the way she pronounces it, Dideh. I used to say it as Didah, but I was corrected. It is Dideh.

Dideh is a frequent companion while we are out and about. I have been reprimanded numerous times for not buckling his seat belt. In my defense, I really would have if I had realized he was with us. Sometimes his mom or grandma come along as well. The more the merrier, right? Unknowing to me, Hailey has even been on adventures with Dideh and his mom. Like jumping over train tracks and running away from wolves, which then led them up a tree where Hailey hung from a beehive and the bees came out and said "Hello!" in a deep throaty voice. I really wish I could remember all of the details of that conversation. It was hilarious.

I was curious to get to know Dideh better. He comes around a few times a week, but I really haven't sat down and talked to him much. It doesn't help that most of the time I don't even know he's there. He's so sneaky. Anyway... I asked Hailey a few questions so we could get to know him better. This information changes daily. So, as of the day of this interview, this is all about Dideh.

His full name: Dideh Herby Hill (Hailey volunteered that his last name is Hill and his other name is Herby.)
Age: 3 (Sometimes he is younger than Hailey, sometimes he is much older. Nearly everyday recently has been his birthday.)
Birthday: July 15
Weight: 3 pounds (Hailey threw in that she weighs 50 lbs. because she is 4.)

His family
Mom: Shone-a, weighs 26 pounds and is about to have a brother (she is pregnant with Dideh's baby brother)
Dad: Ten-Ten, weighs 22 pounds
Sister: Sticky-Stong, age 29
Baby Brother (who supposedly is not yet born): Turbo, 2 years old

Favorite color: blue and white
Likes to play: hide and seek
Favorite food: Tater Tot Casserole and Macaroni and Cheese
Favorite movie: Frozen
Favorite game: Candyland and Bingo.
Where he lives: Farmington, far away Farmington, in Hailey's room.
Favorite sport: He doesn't like sports, but he likes to play baseball inside.
Favorite animal: kangaroos

Hailey volunteered this information:
His favorite video is Doc McStuffins (She must have watched this at a friend's house. We've never watched it here.)
He wants to be a dad when he grows up.
He likes to go to the zoo and eat lunch there. He doesn't like the smell though.

Hailey's favorite thing to do with Dideh is to play bingo and hair stuff with his hair. She says his hair is brown, and her hair is golden. (I am assuming the golden is in reference to Rapunzel's hair. She wishes her hair was as long as Rapunzel's.)

Hailey said that Dideh was a mummy for Halloween, and she was a witch. (Hailey has an obsession with all things Halloween. She talks about it constantly.)

That is Dideh in a nutshell. We really love having him around. He adds some extra entertainment around here. Although I do need to have a chat with his mom about allowing them to play near the train tracks.

I do need to add in that frequently Hailey says that Dideh is her son, she is his mom. Occasionally he ends up in time out, or gets in trouble for not listening to Hailey. Other times Dideh is her friend, and has a different mom. It gets confusing. :)

P.S. I think my favorite part of this whole interview was Hailey's enthusiasm for it. She was so excited to tell me all about Dideh. After everything she told me she immediately said "Write it down." and watched to make sure I took a note of it. Not that she could read it. I could have written anything. :)

  1. Oh Dideh.... that rascal... I too have been reprimanded for not "buckling" him in on "our" trips to the grocery store... or leaving him IN the car while at the grocery store...

  2. This was so fun to read!! She is so imaginative! I couldn't help but remember when Xander talked about his imaginary friends. He had 3, "Guy", "Girl", and "Zonnie". Guy would always tell Xander to do naughty things. Whenever he got in trouble he would say that Guy tempted him to do it. I like that the reason you don't see Dideh is because he is sneaky! That's cute. Xander always said it was because he had better eyesight than us and that's why he could see them but we couldn't. Hahah
